Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then located multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
